Self-rescuer

Self-rescuer

Everyone gets issued one of these and as the professionals on site you should make an example of how you inspect your equipment before going down the hole.

The self-rescuers all use a chemical reaction to reproduce oxygen.

The rescuer provides the user an independent source of air.

This will last for 30 – 90 minutes depending on model and work rate.

You should only don your self rescuer if you are in smoke.

If for what ever reason you find yourself in firing fumes (yellow) you need to don your self rescuer straight away.

Once open the chemical reaction starts straight away in the large bag that folds out of the front. Make sure you use the nose clip and the straps to fit it correctly.
